Scituate Democratic Town Committee
A Message from Our Chair
Thank you for visiting our website! Our local Party remains strong and is committed to bringing a more open and balanced government to our great town. We have had many electoral successes over the years, and we continue to build on a strong base of current elected state and local officials. As a Democrat, I am proud of the work and cooperation of our State Representative Michael Marcello, who so ably serves Scituate and who is a strong voice for open and honest government in the General Assembly. Locally, our municipal team is headed by our beloved Town Clerk, Margaret M. Long, who continues to offer efficient and helpful service to all our residents at Town Hall.
There can be no more important role than the education of our children, and our two elected Democrats on the School Committee – Jean Esposito, a dedicated former Scituate teacher, and Coleen Pendergast, a strong advocate and energetic leader – continue to press for improvements in our schools in the face of stiff GOP opposition. Remember: It was the all-Republican School Committee that took away the wonderful music program from our three elementary schools!
Through our relentless efforts, you can now view Town Council and School Committee meeting via live streaming by visiting the Town’s official website: www.scituateri.org. But we have more work to do! Our town’s main governing body, the seven-member Town Council, lacks any elected Democratic member, and has not had one since 2008. Such lopsided governing is not healthy or productive, but with your help this will change on November 8.
As Chair, I am committed to building on our past electoral successes to bring greater balance and a fresh perspective to our town’s government. To that end, we need your help and support. I urge you to get involved by helping any of our qualified candidates, by donating to their campaigns, or by just staying informed. I also warmly invite you to become an active member of the Scituate Democrat Town Committee. We meet monthly and are always eager to welcome new members.
Most of all, however, I ask you please to get out and vote! Your support on November 8 can help bring real change to our wonderful town. For more details, please visit our website often.
With much thanks and good wishes,
Pamela Carosi, Chair
