DONALD DELAERE JR. - TOWN COUNCIL CENTRAL PIKE Don is no stranger to Scituate residents, having recently completed 23 years as a police officer in the town’s police department, including a three-year term as its Chief, where he instilled a sense of professionalism and duty to the force. Knowledgeable on issues related to public safety and municipal administration, Don’s real life experiences in our community will be an asset to the Town Council during these unique and trying times. A proven leader with a commitment to public service, Don earned a B.A. degree from Rhode Island College and was awarded a M.S. degree from Anna Maria College. In seeking a seat on the Town Council, Don’s main goal is to ensure a fair and open hiring process for all town departments, the development of a comprehensive economic plan to help ease the burden on local property taxes, and to ensure that town services are delivered in a professional and prompt manner. Don is married to Karen and is the proud step-dad to two grown daughters. He is a 25-year member of Friendship Masonic Lodge as well as the International Police Chiefs Association and New England Police Chiefs Association. “I have spent my entire adult career serving the people of Scituate, and running for Town Council is just a continuation of my commitment to the community and its people who have treated me so well. Decisions need to be made based on what is best for the entire community, and I will resist any effort that injects personalities into our town governance.”
