CAROLYN DIAS - SCHOOL COMMITTEE (RE-ELECT) MOUNTAIN LAUREL LANE Carolyn Dias is seeking re-election to the School Committee after completing a very successful and unprecedented transformation of the district’s facilities, technology, and professional leadership in her first term. She was the committee’s leader in ensuring a transparent and realistic district budget that reduced the department’s structural deficit while also instituting a capital plan that secured over $600,000 in state aid. In addition, she oversaw the voter-approved school bond that delivered improved facilities and state of the art athletic venues after years of neglect. The former Chief Operating Officer of the Rhode Island Department of Education, Carolyn brings a wealth and depth of knowledge on school financing, curriculum development, and state resources to the school committee. A graduate of Providence College with a degree in Business Administration, Carolyn also received her Master Degree in leadership from Roger Williams University with a focus on public educational issues. Active in her community, Carolyn is a member of the Scituate Art Festival Committee and the Lion’s Club. A Scituate resident for 32 years, Carolyn Dias and her husband Donald have two sons, John and Donald, who are proud Scituate Spartan graduates. “I am proud of the work that I have done to improve our district, but the work must continue to build on the successes of the last four years. Experienced and committed leadership is critical during these difficult times, and I will ensure that work gets done in a professional and open environment with input from parents, teachers, students, and administrators.”
