ANNA CIMINI -TOWN COUNCIL CHOPMIST HILL RD Anna is running for Town Council as an advocate for long-term sustainable planning and environmental stewardship. A Rhode Island native, she attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, earning a BFA and MFA. She returned to school to study Sustainability and Environmental Management at the Harvard Extension School, graduating with a Master’s in Liberal Arts in 2016. She has worked in higher education for over 10 years, and is currently Curriculum and Enrollment Coordinator at RISD. She and her fiancé Scott settled in Scituate in late 2016. At a time when rural areas are targeted for renewable energy development, Anna’s goals as a member of the Town council include developing and passing a comprehensive solar and renewable energy ordinance and completing a municipal comprehensive plan that values open space and retaining rural values. Concerned about the town’s reliance on residential property tax as a main source of funding, Anna supports the diversification of our tax base. Sustainable financial management, home affordability, and responsible development are essential issues to her campaign. “I’d like to ensure Scituate stays an affordable and desirable place for everyone. The way forward is for all residents to be involved in decision making in planning for Scituate’s future. As a current member of the Land Trust, I have had the pleasure of seeing residents working together to protect open space and fostering conservation on our properties. I’d like to bring that sense of community to the Town Council.”
